Recently I’ve encountered – and familiarized myself a little – with this nice atmospheric black metal project from Hungary by the name of WitcheR. Well, I pretty much like anything from atmospheric and symphonic black metal genre, so when I’ve ordered some stuff from Akné Productions (by the way, you can read the interview with its owner, Wayne, here), I’ve got myself a Cdr re-release of their 2011 demo Boszorkánytánc as well..and that’s how I’ve got to know this project.
Through the ones and zeros of the Internet has arrived a still-hot-from-the-oven promo of this Swedish duo. Described as “traditional heavy metal with plenty of melody, prominent bass lines, and the occasional organ part. The band’s music has been likened to acts such as HÄLLAS, JUDAS PRIEST, as well as URIAH HEEP“, this description has caught my eye – not because I would describe myself as a fan of traditional heavy metal, I certainly don’t listen to Uriah Heep, and even Judas Priest kinda eludes me as a whole, but on the contrary – I don’t usually listen to this genre (1970s, early 1980s), definitely not enough, so, why not, right?
My mood for the Indonesian extreme metal still reigns strong, and as you know, there are literally hundreds of band waiting to be discovered! So I’ve decided to have a look at my CD collection to see something to satisfy my musical urges – and the random perusal of my modest collection has resulted in having this nice little album in my player.
I have to admit I’ve had this promo for a long time now and for some reason I hadn’t written a review for it. Shame. Shame indeed. And I will tell you why right here, right now.
Fresh from the toilet coming a new international gorenoise project Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis and not surprisingly, that’s two guys I know! The noise is handled by Longrio Ronghang from India, the seasoned gorenoise/goregrind fanatic known from Coagulopathy or Regoregitated Sacrifice, and the bubbling vokills are done by none other than Pawel Harmaciński, who’s behind such maniacal projects like Bestial Pokemonophile, E-DROPS or absolutely impronouncionable Lymphangioleiomyomatosis Multifocal Lymphangioendotheliomatosis (where the fuck you’ve got that name from, Paweł?). By the way, you can check the interview I’ve done with Paweł here.
I don’t need to tell you that I like many things from Asia – movies and TV series from Korea, Japan, Thailand, Phillipines, Kpop, visual kei, and last, but definitely not least, the Asian metal. And what’s best from Indonesia? Well, you’ve already guessed it – brutal death metal and brutal slamming death metal. So for tonight I chose this interesting compilation with Indonesian BDM and BSDM artists from 2011.
It’s been really a looong time since I’d devoted my ear to anything black metal-related (or I might simply not remember), so when I’d been offered a digital copy of this black metal compilation, I could’t have resisted. Why would I, right?
And here we are again, with some lovely gorenoise tunes. Man, this one is quite a long overdue, but finally the urge has kicked again.
It’s so good to be back in the solitude of my living room, with the headphones firmly on my ears and embracing the grinding beats, killer basslines, deadly riffs and vokills to …well, kill for. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I am complaining about the family life (because I will never do that), but lately it has become quite a difficult to enjoy the extreme music during the daytime, so, your Rubber Axeman Rudolf had to become a musical vampire and do his stuff in the still of the night, lol.
I would never have guessed to be listening to Country Joe McDonald. It’s basically, to quote Phil Collins, against all odds. But here I am, listening to “Vietnam Experience” CD, Joe’s 1985 album. And not only that, I am writing a review of it. 35 years old album? Hell yeah, folks!
